Graduate student Logan Horowitz received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley on May 24, 2025. His dissertation, “Design of High-Performance Hybrid Switched Capacitor Converters: Modeling, Layout, and Thermal Management,” was completed under the supervision of Prof. Robert Pilawa-Podgurski.

Logan’s research advanced the design of hybrid switched-capacitor power converters through contributions spanning analytical modeling, converter optimization, physical implementation, and thermal management. His work has helped improve the performance, efficiency, and power density of next-generation power delivery systems for applications ranging from electric transportation to energy-efficient computing infrastructure.

Throughout his time at Berkeley, Logan was an active member of the Berkeley Power and Energy Center (BPEC), contributing to numerous research projects while also mentoring fellow students within the group.

Following graduation, Logan will continue his research as a postdoctoral scholar at UC Berkeley before joining the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder as an Assistant Professor.

We congratulate Logan on this important milestone and wish him continued success in his academic career.
